Erik ten Hag states no approaches have been received for its highly rated goalkeeper as yet, but he believes a deal could be received at some Point.
Chelsea and Barcelona are among those to have been linked together with Ajax goalkeeper Andre Onana, and Erik ten Hag admits that the 24-year-old could be sold to the”right club” for the”right price”.
People in Amsterdam know that top talent will last to be cherry-picked from their squad by big-spending sides across Europe. Matthijs de Ligt and Frenkie de Jong departed in 2019, to Juventus and Barcelona respectively, while Hakim Ziyech is going to Stamford Bridge 12 weeks on.
Donny van de Beek is just another enticing admiring glances from afar, whilst Onana has conceded that the time has arrived for him to consider a fresh challenge.
A return to Barcelona has been mooted for a guy who formerly spent time inside the famous La Masia academy system. Chelsea, meanwhile, are all said to be in the market for a Kepa Arrizabalaga replacement, and Premier League rivals Tottenham are looking for a long-term successor to Hugo Lloris.
All those reported to be in the frame could dig deep if needed, with it indicated that Ajax will demand around $31 million from any deal involving Onana.
Ten Hag has stopped short of putting a cost on a highly-rated custodian but has left an exit door available.
The Ajax boss told Algemeen Dagblad: “Andre is extremely important to us, of course, we don’t wish to lose him, but it is a fact that we’ve got an arrangement from last year about the evolution situation and what steps we’ll take if the right club comes from at the ideal price.”
While accepting that interest in Onana is very likely to be stepped up at the next transfer window, Six Hag insists no bids have been received as yet.
That situation is very likely to change, with Onana having invited approaches from his list of several suitors.
He has stated on his future: “Don’t get me wrong, I am rather pleased with Ajax and I am very grateful to the club. It was five great years here, but my time has come to have a step.
“I do not yet know what will happen, but my ambitions and agreements are clear.”
