Louis van Gaal has slammed clubs seeking to use the coronavirus catastrophe for their own advantage, singling out Ajax for their effort to finish the Eredivisie season.

UEFA stressed this week that domestic competitions should not be abandoned just yet with leagues throughout the world suspended because of the pandemic.

Ajax technical director Marc Overmars slammed the Dutch FA’s first choice to attempt to finish the existing Eredivisie year with Ajax top of the table on goal difference as it stands.

Van Gaal, who’s currently living in Portugal, is adamant though that all leagues should be given the opportunity to be finished and feels Ajax may be seeking to take advantage of the situation.

“If it’s established that the coronavirus was defeated, you first must finish the present contest,” Van Gaal informed AD.

And of course, after 25 matches we cut off things and Ajax is the winner. It does not matter that AZ has exactly the identical amount of points in three-quarters of a contest? That’s nonsense. Anyone who’s an athlete knows what I mean.

“I also find it outrageous how the health issue is employed in the discussion about’playing outside or quitting’. They’re the specialists.

“But while the government has also been following the pros for weeks, some soccer clubs suddenly say it is not possible – Ajax first.

“Who does not want to play out? Check it out – clubs which are presently in a European place, with the exception of Feyenoord, and clubs in the relegation zone.

“Clubs that abuse this corona catastrophe for their own profit and make it a public health announcement; I am a guy who can not take that.

“If it’s allowed by the specialists of the RIVM, I really expect that the center bracket of the branch can be sure that the competition is finished.

“You can play out the season in June or July. There’s tons of time this summer, the European Championship is the calendar off. And when UEFA and FIFA are eager to change rules and supply space, well then begin. It can be great at the load of players because in these weeks they’re now unintentionally resting.”
