Ajax Season Prospects

With Ajax just winning the Eredivisie on goal difference last year and it going down to the last game of the season, they’ll be looking to improve of this in the 2020/21 season which has just got underway in the last couple of weeks.

Only a couple season ago were Ajax in the Champions League semi-final against Tottenham, a game in which they were cruising until the dying moments in the game when Lucas Moura shocked the Dutch Champions and went through to the final, only to lose to Liverpool in the final. These were the highlights of the modern day Ajax in which they had a squad that was seriously dangerous to any side on their day.

However, since then, their team has been taken apart with transfers with many of their main players moving on to bigger and better things. After the Champions League final they lost Matthijs de Ligt to Juventus and Frenkie de Jong to Juventus and Barcelona respectively – two huge losses for two of the brightest talents in Dutch football. Although, this has always been the case with Ajax as they have always been a selling club with them losing players such as Johan Cruyff and Luis Suarez to bigger clubs back in the day – so this is certainly something they are used too.

Now that the season is back underway, online casino market such as at The Best Casinos are still continuing to flourish as they were in the off season. They were mainly benefitting during the off season due to the lack of live sporting events, so sports betting was at a premium and therefore these casino markets seen a surge in numbers.

Although losing de Jong and Ligt was a huge blow, we believe that the departures this season are potentially more damaging for the club. Hakim Ziyech has moved on to Chelsea, Donny van de Beek has moved to Man United and just today Sergino Dest has made his dream move to FC Barcelona aged just 19; a huge moment for the young American. These three were the spine of their campaign last season and the Board of Directors at Ajax will be looking to replace them urgently if they are wanting to challenge again in Europe and regain their Eredivise title.
